When is the best time to plant bulbs?

The best time to plant bulbs depends on the specific type of bulb and the climate you live in. In general, bulbs should be planted in the fall, before the ground freezes. This gives the bulbs time to establish roots before the winter, so they can begin growing as soon as the weather warms up in the spring.

Our grounds maintenance teams are able to plant bulbs to enhance your existing development, adding spring and summer colour to borders.

For spring-flowering bulbs like tulips and daffodils, it is generally recommended to plant them in the autumn, around 6-8 weeks before the first frost. In climates with mild winters, bulbs can be planted a bit later, closer to the time of the first frost.

Summer-flowering bulbs like gladioli and lilies should be planted in the spring, after the threat of frost has passed.

It is important to follow the specific planting instructions for the type of bulbs you are planting, as some bulbs may have slightly different requirements.
