World Habitat Day: Supporting Local Biodiversity Through Landscaping

World Habitat Day is an opportunity to reflect on the environments we create and the role landscaping can play in protecting and supporting local wildlife.

At Perennial Landscapes, biodiversity is an important consideration in the work we deliver. From incorporating wildlife features into developments to creating green spaces that support nature, we recognise that landscaping can contribute to more than just the appearance of a site.

Supporting Wildlife on Site

Across our projects, we install dedicated wildlife features, including bat boxes, bird boxes and hedgehog runs. These additions can provide valuable shelter and nesting opportunities for local wildlife, helping support biodiversity within developed environments.

Alongside these features, carefully considered planting and green spaces can also provide food and habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, helping nature become part of the places where people live, work and spend time.

Taking Our Commitment Further

We know there is always more that can be done to support the natural environment.

We’re currently exploring how we can take our approach to biodiversity further, identifying additional opportunities both on our sites and across our business to protect and support local habitats.

We look forward to sharing more about these plans as our work develops.

Creating Spaces Where Nature Can Thrive

Sustainable landscaping is about looking beyond the finished appearance of a development. It means considering how outdoor spaces can contribute to the wider environment and support the wildlife around them.

This World Habitat Day, we’re recognising the role our industry can play in creating greener, more biodiverse places for the future.
